In today's world where sustainable development has become a global business consensus, the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is becoming a key springboard for textile supply chain enterprises to transform and upgrade. Whether you are an industry veteran or a new player, joining BCI can open a new door to sustainable procurement for you - today we will take you on a deep analysis of BCI's rights system, business model, and operating standards, allowing your enterprise to be one step ahead on the green track!

01 Become a BCI member and enjoy exclusive benefits matrix
As a supplier manufacturer member, you will have core advantages that non members cannot match:

Brand Empowerment: Obtain the permission to use a better cotton logo to highlight the sustainable value of your products in the market and easily impress environmentally conscious brands and consumers.
Identity recognition: Listing on the BCI official website enhances the company's industryvisibility and credibility, becoming a "green benchmark" in the supply chain.
Efficient management: With BCP accounts and user IDs, multiple BCP accounts can be opened without increasing annual fees, flexibly adapting to multiple business line operations.
Data driven: Obtain quarterly Production and Procurement Reports, use industry data to guide business decisions, and grasp market trends.
Participation in decision-making: Qualified to become a representative of the BCI Council or vote to elect representatives, directly participate in industry rule making, and take the initiative in development. On the other hand, non member suppliers, even if they can participate in the inventory balance model, cannot use logos, open multiple accounts, or obtain industry reports, which greatly reduces their brand competitiveness and operational flexibility.
Cost Description: The membership certification fee ranges from € 2420-30480 (depending on annual cotton revenue and company type); Non members are required to pay € 990 per business premises and open a BCP account for each premises.
02BCP account type: Accurately match your business scenario
BCI has tailored account permissions for different types of enterprises to ensure compliant and efficient business operations

03 Two procurement modes: There is always one that suits you
BCI provides a balanced inventory model and a traceable model, allowing enterprises tochoose based on their own stage and needs:

Balance mode of inventory and sales
Core logic: Tracking quantities through Better Cotton Declaration Units (BCCUs) without the need for physical separation, extremely friendly to new suppliers of good cotton, and low entry barriers.
Attention: Starting from May 2026, this model no longer allows the use of product labels/logos (for retail brands and related suppliers), and companies need to plan their compliance path in advance.
Traceability mode
Core logic: Track physical (traceable) good cotton in the product, and verify its country of origin, meeting the brand's high-level demand for a "transparent supply chain".
Admission requirements: It is necessary to ensure that the business premises and supply chain are certified and suitable for enterprises that have established mature compliance systems.
04 Compliance Declaration Guidelines for Non Member Suppliers
If you have not yet become a member but still want to participate in the BCI ecosystem, please note that the statement in the balanced inventory mode is only applicable at theorganizational level and cannot be used at the product level. The following compliant statements can be used:
