Higg FEM Latest News | Only Level 1 verification will be conducted in 2026, and the verification man day and day guidelines will be updated
Recently, the Cascale Annual Meeting was held in Hong Kong, and the ASCP team was also invited to attend. At the meeting, we learned a lot of the latest information about Higg. The editor has compiled the relevant content and shared it with everyone to help enterprises better cope with the latest verification of Higg FEM 2025 (CY2026).
01. Good news for the Cascale Annual Meeting in Hong Kong
Cascale has acquired key assets of the non-profit organization Sustainable Furniture Council (SFC), which is the only industry wide member organization dedicated to promoting sustainable home development. The verification of Higg FEM furniture industry will increase.
02. Higg FEM 2025 (CY2026) still only verifies Level 1
Cascale has decided to temporarily suspend the scope expansion of Higg FEM verification and shift towards enhanced methods to meet the needs of members and the industry. This includes exploring new ways to examine qualitative data more promptly and/or frequently, rather than simply expanding the scope to cover all issues. This strategic shift enables us to establish a more reliable, adaptable, and modular verification system that better aligns with your priorities and the growing demands of our industry.
The verification will continue with the Level 1 issue verification, consistent with this year, and the mandatory requirement for self-assessment to be released on April 30th each year, which was previously required, will be cancelled.
03. Higg FEM 2025 (CY2026) will update the verification protocol
Higg FEM 2025 (CY2026) verification protocol update allows institutions to begin planning and developing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure verification is conductedin accordance with protocol requirements.
Cost calculation requirements in proposals/quotations:
The protocol now requires the verification agency to provide itemized information and costs for all Higg FEM verification proposals/quotations regarding the verification aspects listed below.
1. Number of on-site/off-site verification person days
2. Cost of validation report and internal quality review
3. Travel expenses
4. Verification access fee
5. Total Higg FEM verification fee
Please also note that Cascale has the right to request the verification agency to provide a copy of the Higg FEM verification proposal/quotation issued to the factory, and to take appropriate necessary actions in the event of non-compliance with the above requirements.
Update person day requirements
The verification person day guide will be updated to include specific scenarios that require a minimum number of person days for verification (such as requiring 2 person days).
04. Hire a third-party organization KPMG to evaluate and verify the quality
Cascale has hired KPMG to conduct an independent evaluation of the Higg FEM verification plan to assess its effectiveness, consistency, and relevance.
