Against the backdrop of global supply chain digital transformation and continuous upgrading of ESG compliance requirements, Worldly platform has officially launched FDM (Facility Data Manager) verification service, aiming to help enterprises build transparent and efficient sustainable development management systems through high-frequency environmental data collection and intelligent analysis.
01What is HIGG-FDM (Facility Data Manager)?
HIGG FDM (Facility Data Module) is one of the core modules of the Higg/Wordly platform, which focuses on collecting basic operational data of factories and providing data support for subsequent environmental modules (FEM) and social labor modules (FSLM). It can be understood as a simplified version of FEM, where the necessary content will be unlocked based on the factory type, and the data filling, submission, and sharing that should be done will not change. Usually, actions need to be verified, which can be divided into "remote verification" and "on-site verification".
02What are the main functions of HIGG FDM?
Large scale acquisition of frequent and standardized raw data
Traditionally, brands and supply chain partners only formally review environmental impact data once a year, but in order to meet regulatory requirements, brands need to obtain environmental impact data more frequently. FDM can collect facility data on a monthly basis, enabling brands to identify and respond to risks in near real-time, and then track the impact of intervention measures more frequently.
Easy carbon accounting
FDM allows factories to allocate their production to specific buyers, enabling brands to calculate their Scope 3 impact more accurately and confidently. According to regulations such as the EU CSRD and California SB 253, corporate carbon reporting (including Scope 3) is rapidly becoming a regulatory requirement for many brands.
Regulatory compliance and effective due diligence
Regulations such as CSRD and CSDDD require brands to implement supply chain risk and due diligence plans. The essence of these plans is that brands must establish systems to identify, address, and track potential or actual environmental or social hazards in the value chain. Due to FDM collecting factory data on a monthly basis, this tool enables brands to identify and respond to risks in near real time, and then track the impact of all intervention measures within a reporting period.
Goal setting and tracking between brand and facilities
Brands are becoming increasingly proactive in setting ambitious sustainable development goals to meet regulatory requirements and stay ahead of time. The collaborative function of FDM enables brands and facilities to jointly set and track absolute or standardized targets for energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and other key indicators.
03What are the associations between HIGG FDM and HIGG FEM?
Firstly, it should be clarified that HIGG FDM (Enterprise Data Manager) and Higg FEM (Facility Environment Module) are not a binary relationship.
Higg FDM and Higg FEM are both hosted on the Worldly platform. FDM is based on Higg FEM 4.0, allowing brands and factories to collect this data in real-time throughout the year. FDM covers up to 100% of level 1 quantitative data in FEM 4.0. But FDM focuses on quantitative data, while FEM also includes more qualitative data such as procedures, standard processes, etc. So FDM should be regarded as an important auxiliary tool for FEM.
